Dry Dock Process Management - DD PDF Stampa E-mail
The Dry-dock module is designed to support the Company in the complex management of Dry-dock Specification Work.

The need to define sales plans well in advance and to reduce the time dedicated to technical maintenance whilst the ship is operating lets Dry-dock become a key factor in the technical management of a ship.
The shortness of time available (the less time spent means less revenue lost due to non-operation of the ship) has resulted in almost all the work being done by outside contractors and not by company personnel.

Unlike recent times when certain jobs were postponed to Dry-dock for technical reasons and were performed by ship personnel, today the principal task of the ship personnel is to supervise the work done on board during Dry-dock by contractors.

The financial aspect increases the critical nature of Dry-dock management. The cost of a Dry-dock is high compared to normal operating costs.
Such costs are fully or partially capitalized, i.e. they represent modifications or increases in the ship's value. It is important therefore to separate them from Ordinary Management costs but also to identify and track them according to area (Engine, Deck, Hotel,...) and type (Item, Service , ...) in order to allow correct accounting.

Firstly when Requisitions and Work Orders are postponed to Dry-dock and prepared as Drafts, a phase of Specification definition starts, in which finalization of budget costs is a key factor.
Different types of documents can be attached to the Specification (technical drawings, photographs, and in general supporting documentation to help those designated to carry out the work).

Checks on the implementation of the work and cost controls are performed at the end of the process.

The module is fully integrated with the basic module and inputs to the normal management of the section dedicated to the Budget and Cost Control.
