In the last few years, IB consolidated its leadership in the field of the local public transport, establishing itself as the leading supplier of software and organizational solutions to manage the transport fleet of the Local Public Transport companies. IB's competences go beyond the plain maintenance, and extend in safety, environment, and quality themes.

IB strongly focuses on the knowledge and the management of maintenance processes. The peculiarities of the IB's approach made its solutions the most used tool for the management of the ordinary activities; IB also entrusted to the latter the "engine" role, to re-design the workshop processes, on the occasion of the company's requalification and aggregation. IB avails itself of the cooperation of the major Italian maintenance and management experts for the relevant thematic, such as spare parts, logistic, and management on behalf of third parties. Some experts have published the most important works and numerous technical-scientific articles on the subject.

The IB solutions allow to pursue and identify essential targets:

• optimization in the use of staff and infrastructures;
• monitoring of the fleet management costs, and decisions support;
• preservation and valorization of the assets (means, infrastructures, and equipment);
• support to the processes management, fully respecting the safety regulations, and according to the ISO 9001 - 2000, ISO 14000 standards;
• sharing the experience and the knowledge, in order to facilitate the management change.

In the last few years, IB has focused on the world of the local public transport, promoting initiatives at different levels, and developing maintenance efficiency projects, involving both the service operators, and the suppliers/producers of the means. At present IB cares particularly the diffusion of the maintenance culture, and the contribution to the definition of standards and regulations concerning the best practices, transferring experiences developed in other fields. Among the most recent activities, the following are worth mentioning:

• formulation and coordination of an Advanced Master titled "Planning and Maintenance of the fleet of vehicles of a transport company";
• organization of the seminar "The aggregation processes of the local public transport companies in Italy";
• formulation and wording, in cooperation with the AIMAN (Associazione Italiana Manutenzione) and the R.I.Na (Registro Italiano Navale) of the technical specification of the "Certification of the Maintenance System".

The following complementary and synergic elements form the proposal.

• the InfoPMS® platform, to fully manage the fleet of vehicles, the facilities, the garage equipments, the electrical lines / construction and the real-estate assets. The InfoPMS® solution is modular and scalable in several applicative modules. The continuous research and innovation has always prompted IB to enrich the high added value functionality platform, and to satisfy the most demanding clients through the progressive growth of the application.
• design and optimization of the organizational models of the fleets management (workshop, warehouse, sales, etc...), centred on the efficacy and the efficiency of the processes and on the best experiences in the field, in cooperation with important partners;
• the involvement with the Interest Group is finalized at a continuous cultural exchange among the users of InfoPMS®; it gives the opportunity to the technical reporting members and to the system's administrators, to share the experiences developed within the various InfoPMS's user companies, regarding the organizational and computer solutions they adopted, considering both the opportunities of such an adoption and the problem areas they faced.
