The power stations and, more generally, the power production and distribution systems are based on a keen technological growth. This made possible that the traditional, preventive and corrective maintenance, i.e. the prevailing modus operandi within the power generation organizations, to be sided by maintenance techniques, the predictive one, or the on-condition one. This entailed a different methodological approach to the maintenance problems for which greater automation competences are required (increasingly more diagnostic operators and less servicemen), managing contracts with third parties more based on performance, different work scheduling etc. Evidently to answer efficiently and punctually to modified activities specific instruments to support the new needs must be acquired while the organizations shall be sustained through their evolution. The IB solutions have been developed and are implemented consequently in the logic making possible for the companies to govern the change processes, like the ones described here above.

Since a few years ago, IB held a promotional and distribution activity of its vertical solutions in the world of power production and distribution, also through its network of business partners, allowing software solutions like InfoPMS® and InfoGREEN® to increasingly become a standard reference for the IT for the asset management in the Power field.

The main target fields of the IB solutions are:

  • The power stations
  • Thermal Incinerators
  • Cogeneration plants
  • Distribution lines and systems
  • Renewable energy plants (wind, photovoltaic, geothermal, biomasses, hydro-electric)

Next to the traditional functionalities of the InfoPMS® software platform, such as the management of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, materials' management, the support for the safety and management control, specifically in the Power Generation & Distribution field, IB has developed dedicated features, such as the tight connection with the most widespread DCS/SCADA systems on the market, aiming at automatically importing the working hours of the single tags, and the malfunction alarms; it has also integrated sw and hw power estimation procedures for the release to function of the machineries, after maintenance (Lockout / Tagout), it created some interfaces with GIS systems for the geographical localization of plants throughout the territory.

With regards to the specific world of power production from renewable sources, IB has recently released a new solution called InfoGREEN®, which includes the whole functional coverage of the operation & maintenance, from the connectivity with the on-site equipment, to the equipment monitoring, the maintenance and the safety management.
