The InfoPMS® integration with on-line diagnostics gives effective preventive maintenance by preventing breakdowns and disruptions. The new multiplexed buses can run a complete diagnostic of the vehicle from the moment the bus’ battery system is activated. This data is imported in real-time to InfoPMS®, helping technicians resolve any critical system failures and plan required maintenance activities.
ACTV, along with InfoPMS®, manages the maintenance of the land transportation division (urban and suburban transport services with about 650 vehicles), and the naval division with more than 150 vehicles including the maintenance of boats in service in the lagoon and the tramway of Mestre. The installation of touch-screen totems in the workshops was particularly effective in ACTV, as it allowed the operators to be fully involved in the maintenance flow, and for the on-board dashboards to automatically generate maintenance requests.
The implementation of InfoPMS® dates back to 2005 and where it was first installed in ARPA Chieti, the Regional Public Transportation in Abruzzo, then progressively extended to GTM, Metropolitan Transport in Pescara and finally to FAS, Sangritana Adriatico Railway in Lanciano. TUA operates in the regional territory with two divisions: rail and bus services, with 895 buses, 16 electric trains for the transport of people and 16 locomotives for freight transport.
InfoPMS® has been able to adapt to different situations, both in terms of area of competence (regional and urban) and for the maintenance processes adopted (with almost total outsourcing or a limited presence of third party companies).
The need for a detailed reporting system and for the customized management of complex asset maintenance processes such as those regarding the new tramway persuaded APS Padova, now Busitalia Veneto, to request a specific implementation of InfoPMS® software, which could manage the testing and commissioning of warranties for the tram division.
Busitalia Veneto S.p.A. is a newer company which has been operating since 2015 in Veneto and carries out urban and extra urban services in the provinces of Padua and Rovigo; this service was previously provided by Busitalia Sita Nord and APS Mobility. The company counts 950 employees, 640 buses and 16 trams.
CTT is a group that has 1462 people on staff, 900 buses and operates in the areas of Livorno, Pisa, Lucca and Massa-Carrara. InfoPMS® was able to centrally manage different and uneven technical processes that were originated from the aggregation and subsequent fusion of different Tuscan public companies operating in urban, suburban and long-distance transport.
Used to different ways of enhancement, article coding, and organizational models, the companies started using InfoPMS® maintenance information system integrated with ERP to harmonize information and compare data coming from diverse offices, while maintaining the autonomy of the specific organizational process of each company.
TPER (Emilia-Romagna Passenger Transport) is the public transport company born out of the merger of ATC Bologna and FER, the regional rail company. IB began collaborating with ATC Bologna in 2005 for the maintenance of its bus fleet and trolleybus. During this period, the company's technical direction gained a high level of expertise on InfoPMS® (installation, modification, training, report development, etc.) leading to them being able to autonomously implement the solution in their subsequestly acquired companies and divisions.
Today, a large number of users work daily on the InfoPMS® software: supervisors, maintainers, maintenance engineers, and external providers, all of whom report their activities through the dedicated web portal.
Since November 1, 2013, the management of public transport in Naples is being ran by one single company ANM SpA, created through the merger of ANM (road transport) Metronapoli (rail transport) and Napolipark (parking). ANM covers the whole urban transport network, with a fleet of about 1000 buses, 2 metro lines and 5 funicular lines.
The InfoPMS® project, which started in 2006 with the road segment and was extended to the metro company in 2010, manages multiple maintenance workshops as well as 7 bus and 3 rail depots, where both preventive and corrective maintenance activities are carried out. InfoPMS® allows users to manage and monitor all maintenance activities, synchronizing them with the service, and centralizing materials and spare part requests to optimize stock in the different warehouses.
Having been an IB customer since 2005, Trentino Trasporti uses InfoPMS® to manage the maintenance processes of Trento-Malé-Marileva rail transportation.
Through this software, the technical department of the company records and programmes the maintenance of its fleet, efficiently manages safety checks and vehicle cleaning, organises use and demand of spare parts, integrates the company's existing software with InfoPMS® and identifies project defects in order to issue work requests included in the guaranty given by train suppliers. With the introduction of business intelligence tools, Trentino Trasporti is also able to implement effective policies to contain costs and to evaluate the opportunity of outsourcing policies.
